Everybody's Polish

Apparently the largest Dyngus Day Festival in all of the United States occurs in my city, Buffalo, NY.

Hooray for us! Everyone is a little bit Polish on Dyngus Day. Too bad, I forgot to send the kids to school with their pussy willow branches. Happy Dyngus Day!

  1. Oh chuckles. Dyngus Day. Now is the time for to erect tall metal pole and participate in feats of manly masculinity.

Srsly, I heart obscure cultural holidays ... would rather celebrate those than mass marketed religious ones.

  2. I am with you, Mollie. The best part of this celebration is that you can choose to either flick water on the opposite sex or hit them with a pussy willow branch- or alternate between the two. So many options- to help attract a mate. My kids are part Polish- I figured it was about time to stroke that Polish falcon- learn a little bit about their heritage. Whacking the opposite sex with Pussy willows is as far as I got. And, I'm happy believing there isn't much more to being Polish than that.
